I miss blogging

I know I've been MIA for a while. Things have been very different and I've needed time to adjust. Divorce. Ugh.

Teens.... 5-year-old boys.  Where do I start? I love my new life but it is very unorthodox.

One part of my life is Toastmasters. I rejoined and it's been the best thing. It's allowed me to maintain some semblance of sanity in my very messy world. I've also started Toastmasters for kids. It started as just a necessity for my Distinguished Toastmaster Award requirements, but then the kids enjoyed it so much that we've continued having meetings and following the standard Toastmaster structure. I've been learning so much from these amazing kids. And watching my own kids grow at the same time.

Then there's the farm life. I'll admit I'm not very good at this yet. I have a giant heart for gardening and I love our chickens, but I have a lot to learn. The warmer weather has me dreaming big this year.

Working has been a challenge but after committing to getting off government assistance, I've been able to pay bills and still feed everyone, so that's success right? I am doing my best to be home as much as I can and schedule work around the kid's needs. This is one reason I am fighting hard not to have a 9-5 job.

The kids are excited about the summer. They are planning to get jobs so they can meet their own goals. Zee, of course, wants to drive and car insurance is really expensive. I've always told them that this will be their responsibility. It is a nice step up to adult freedom. If they are responsible enough to pay for fuel and insurance, they have every right to drive. They will feel how challenging it is to pay for this responsibility and not take unnecessary risks. Why do donuts on tires you paid for? Zippy is working to earn a beehive and more chickens. She eventually wants a donkey and horse and those will require funds. She can do it! I know she can.

I will do my best to blog consistently. If for no other reason than to have a nice digital diary.
