With the boys away at Scout campout, and Tzipi spent the night with her cousins, I had plenty of time and energy to get the house cleaned like I like it. So since I know it will only last until the boys get home and track dirt inside, bring in three days worth of dirty clothes and eat lunch and mess up the kitchen, I decided to take pictures so I can look back and enjoy my clean house while it lasted.

This is Tzipi mopping the floor for me yesterday.







I took Tzipporah to the grocery store yesterday. She kept pestering me for things when we first got to the store. Then I got the brilliant idea to lend her my digital camera. Here is her beautiful work. Can you guess what she's looking at?


This picture is from this morning. Not bad for a 3 year old! :-) She even told me how to lay. "Eema, put your legs over there, no... over there...".

Time passes so quickly

I was about to get Tzipi's spring clothes out when I realized that she's outgrown all of it. She's not 24 months anymore. She's 3 now. I should have realized this during her birthday party when we were blowing out candles and sing "Happy Birthday" to her, but it hasn't really hit me until this week. On top of that I'm really missing the summer. I started out writing about how much I miss the green grass and leaves on the trees and how happy I am that some of the trees are starting to bloom. That's true, but I think that as the seasons change I realize even more how quickly time passes. Zee's baby face is almost gone. Tzipi's hair is getting longer and she's catching up quickly to her big brother. Zee is reading things I didn't read until 2nd grade. Tzipi is writing letters already (didn't know she could do it until I saw her school work during my first parent teacher conference). I can only imagine how it must be for our parents who don't get to see the kids very often. (I'm planning grandparent visits in April and May.) Well, enough rambling I've got gladiolus to plant. YEAH for SPRING!!!!

Tzipi's school has been learning about transportation, so at this time of year, they ask that parents create a mode of transportation for an annual parade. So Avi said we needed to do this so she wouldn't be the only kid in class without a car or something. Well of course we couldn't just do a car. That would be predictable and boring. We did an airplane. A ladybug airplane! It was definitely a collaborative effort as Avi did most of the hard work and I helped decorate. Of course I couldn't attend the actual parade so I asked Avi to take a picture of Tzipi wearing her plane. So here it is.

March 3rd

It's almost the big day! No more satellite TV. Surprisingly the kids are actually acting happy about the change. I'm just ready for the day to be here. Once I pay the final bill I'll be happy to see a little more of my pay check. And another positive thing about getting rid of the TV: not living around our favorite shows. Sunday won't be an argument between Avi and I who gets to watch their show? Avi watches CBS Sunday morning or my favorite cooking show, Jamie at Home. I'll miss the DVR the most. Getting to pause anytime and rewind or record my favorite shows was such a luxury. When we visit a person without a DVR I still try to pause the TV.

This isn't the first time we've done this. We didn't have TV when we first married or when we moved to Virginia. We broke down and got Dish Network when we were in Wyoming and we were stuck in the house for weeks with snow days.


I feel that it will be better for all of us to be without it. It will force us all to work harder on being together and actively interacting instead of just being in the same room together.


Tzipi definitely needs it and so does Zee. And Spring is almost here. I won't miss it. I have enough to do without having to be distracted by television. Knitting, baking, Toastmasters, blogging, making toys with the kids, playing games, playing the piano.
